2022 Color Of The Year!
It’s that time of the year where paint brands like Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore begin announcing their picks for the color of the year.
Benjamin Moore predicts that we will see greens this year… and the palette is STUNNING!
What is the Benjamin Moore Color of the Year for 2022?Pantone’s decision for the color of the year is never taken lightly. The Pantone Color Institute experts base their choice on a combination of thoughtful consideration and extensive trend analysis. Years past have featured one color, but the brand is mixing it up in 2021, recently announcing two finalists for the Benjamin Moore color of the year: OCTOBER MIST 1495
Benjamin Moore’s designers describe the beautiful shaded as “This gently shaded sage quietly anchors a space, while encouraging individual expression through color. Make room for creativity. Evoking the silver-green stem of a flower, October Mist creates a canvas for other colors- and your imagination- to blossom.”

14 Beautiful Complementary Colors
Follow the 60/30/10 Color Rule
If you choose to use both Illuminating and Ultimate Gray in your home, consider utilizing the 60/30/10 color rule. This rule of thumb is fairly easy to use and helps create a cohesive design. It works by breaking each color up into the following percentages:
- 60% as the primary color
- 30% as a supporting color
- 10% as an accent color
The Pantone color of the year combo works great as supporting and accent colors when paired with walls in a corresponding neutral. Pick pieces of furniture and rugs featuring Ultimate Gray and add a perfect pop of color with décor and throw pillows in shades of bright yellow.
Create a Show-Stopping Entryway
Curb appeal is the most notable first impression the exterior of a home makes, but your front foyer offers a chance to impress as well. You can use both of Pantone’s color of the year picks to make a statement at the entrance of your home. Walls in Ultimate Gray will make the space feel cozier, while an accent wall painted in Illuminating can help a small foyer feel bigger and more inviting. Once you’ve decided on your main color, use the other as an accent.
